The Archdiocesan Commission for Youth is still in its embryonic stages. The Commission hopes to bring about the holistic development of young people. Their primary area of service will be in the training of Youth, Young Adults and adults in the parish for the implementation of the post-Synod resolutions. The vision of the Commission is to see young persons develop a healthy sense of self-esteem, respect for their elders, family, peers, environment, become disciplined and committed to making Christ’s mission their mission and to develop a genuine love for God and their brothers and sisters.

Spiritual Director: Fr Christian Chambers

About The Episcopal Delegate

Sr Kathy JosephThe Episcopal Delegate for Youth, Sr Kathleen Joseph OP joined the Dominican Sisters in 1992 after working for sixteen years at the Royal Bank of Trinidad and Tobago Limited presently known as RBTT Bank. She was first assigned to the Administrative Department at the St Dominic’s Children’s Home where she served for two years. During 1999 to 2001, Sr Kathleen worked in Barbados as the Assistant Administrator of the Our Lady of Sorrows parish, St Peter as well as the St Patrick’s Cathedral in Bridgetown.

On her return to Trinidad in 2001, she was hired as the full time Youth Minister at the St Anthony’s Church, Petit Valley. Much of her success as St Anthony’s was due to the Youth Leadership Training that she and her Youth Council received under the previous Episcopal Delegate for Youth Sr Rose Mary Carvalho.

The training equipped her for the implementation of the Vision Document, which is now the official document for youth ministry since the Synod. As Sr Kathleen begins the coordination of the youth ministry in Trinidad and Tobago she is in the process of forming the Archdiocesan Youth Commission and the Youth Secretariat whose members will serve on the other Archdiocesan Commissions and Councils.

Her vision is to see young persons develop a healthy sense of self-esteem, respect for their elders, family, peers, environment, become disciplined and committed to making Christ’s mission their mission and to develop a genuine love for God and their brothers and sisters.
